Substitutions & Variations
- Flavor Swap Ideas: Chocolate or vanilla protein shakes both work great if you don’t have cookies and cream.
- No Protein Shake?: Use 10-11 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk or your milk of choice and 1 scoop of your favorite chocolate, vanilla, or cookies and cream protein powder.
- Dairy-Free Option: Use a plant-based protein shake and omit the cottage cheese. You can add pudding mix for extra creaminess in place of the cottage cheese.
- Pudding Mix: If you don’t want to use cottage cheese, consider adding 1 tablespoon of instant pudding mix or 1 teaspoon of sugar-free instant pudding mix for added creaminess. Or, you can even add this in addition to the cottage cheese.

How To Make Ninja Creami Cookies and Cream Protein Ice Cream
Step 1: Pour the cookies and cream protein shake into a large blender. Then, add the cottage cheese and an optional pinch of salt. Thoroughly blend the ingredients.

Step 2: Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container.

To help create a flat surface and avoid peaks, place a lid that fits inside the container before adding the Ninja Creami lid. Then, secure the Creami lid and freeze it overnight.

Step 3: Remove from the freezer, install the pint in your Ninja Creami, and run the “Lite Ice Cream” setting.
Step 4: It’s normal for the ice cream to look crumbly or powdery after the first spin. Add a splash of almond milk or your milk of choice, and re-spin once or twice on the “Lite Ice Cream” setting until smooth and creamy.

Step 5: Make a small well in the center of the ice cream, add the crushed Oreo cookies, and run the “Mix-In” cycle. Or, you can simply sprinkle crushed Oreos on top before serving. Then, serve immediately and enjoy!

Shawna’s Expert Tips
- Blend Thoroughly: Make sure to blend well so there are no chunks of cottage cheese left. This helps create a perfectly smooth base.
- Prevent Peaks: After pouring the mixture into your pint container, place a lid or something flat that fits directly on top of the mixture before freezing. This keeps the surface flat and prevents peaks from forming, so you won’t have to scrape them off later.
- Re-Spin: If the ice cream turns out powdery or crumbly after the first spin, add a splash of milk and re-spin once or twice to achieve that extra smooth and creamy texture.
Serving Suggestions
You can top your cookies and cream protein ice cream with extra crushed Oreos or mini cookies for more texture and that classic cookies and cream flavor. Or, add a drizzle of chocolate syrup, sugar-free chocolate sauce, or melted dark chocolate for a decadent touch. You can even pair this protein ice cream with our chocolate protein mug cake for the ultimate high-protein dessert combo.
