STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE WITH ANGEL FOOD CAKE

This strawberry shortcake with angel food cake is a delicious dessert! The angel food cake compliments the ripe juicy strawberries and velvety whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries cleaned and chopped
  • 1, 11 ounce angel food loaf or one angel food cake
  • 3/4 cup TruWhip, light Cool Whip, CocoWhip, or whipped cream of choice
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or sweetener of choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the strawberries. Then, chop them into small pieces.
  • Add the chopped strawberries to a large bowl. Then, add the sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice to the bowl.
  • Thoroughly mix the ingredients in the bowl. After that, lightly mash the strawberries with a potato masher or fork to release some of the juices.
  • Slice the angel food cake loaf or your angel food cake into 12 even pieces.
  • Assemble the individual pieces of strawberry shortcake. Add a slice of angel food cake to the serving plate, followed by a layer of the strawberry mixture, and top with whipped cream. Continue this process with the rest of the ingredients to make more servings and enjoy!
