STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE WITH ANGEL FOOD CAKE

- 2 pounds fresh strawberries cleaned and chopped
- 1, 11 ounce angel food loaf or one angel food cake
- 3/4 cup TruWhip, light Cool Whip, CocoWhip, or whipped cream of choice
- 2 teaspoons sugar or sweetener of choice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Wash and dry the strawberries. Then, chop them into small pieces.
Add the chopped strawberries to a large bowl. Then, add the sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice to the bowl.
Thoroughly mix the ingredients in the bowl. After that, lightly mash the strawberries with a potato masher or fork to release some of the juices.
Slice the angel food cake loaf or your angel food cake into 12 even pieces.
Assemble the individual pieces of strawberry shortcake. Add a slice of angel food cake to the serving plate, followed by a layer of the strawberry mixture, and top with whipped cream. Continue this process with the rest of the ingredients to make more servings and enjoy!
