Instructions

Stovetop Method

  • Take the eggs out of the refrigerator. Next, fill a pot with enough water to fully immerse the eggs. Bring the water to a boil before adding in the eggs. Then, reduce the boil and add in your eggs so you don't get splashed with hot water.
  • Once you have gently added all of your eggs to the low boiling water turn the stove back up to a high boil and let them boil. Boil them for 6-8 minutes if you want soft-boiled eggs or 10-12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
  • After the eggs are boiled I like to run cold water over them and put them in an ice bath to stop them from cooking.
  • Then, I put them in a saucepan and shake the pan back and forth. This is a really easy way to remove the shells from the eggs. After that, enjoy the eggs however you’d like.

Instant Pot Method

  • Add one cup of water to the Instant Pot along with the egg rack or trivet. Then, place the 6 eggs on the trivet or egg rack. You do not want to stack your eggs as it can cause cracking. Make sure to shut and lock the lid and close the pressure-release valve. After that, select the manual option and cook at high pressure for the desired time. Cook the eggs for 3 minutes if you want soft-boiled eggs, 4 minutes for medium-boiled eggs, and 5 minutes for perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs.
  • When the eggs are done, use the natural release for 3 minutes. Then, quickly release the rest of the pressure after the 3 minutes are up.
  • Next, remove the eggs from the Instant Pot with a large spoon because the eggs will be very hot. Then, gently place the eggs in a cold ice bath for 1-2 minutes so they stop cooking.
  • Finally, crack your eggs and enjoy! Using the instant pot makes it very easy to peel your eggs! I like to peel them over running water.
