Ingredients

  • 10 ounces unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 Tazo black chai tea bag
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup, sugar-free maple syrup, or sweetener of choice
  • 1 shot of espresso (or 1/4 cup of strong brewed coffee)

Instructions

  • Pour the unsweetened vanilla almond milk into a small saucepan. Heat it over medium-low heat on the stove until the milk is hot, but not boiling. Whisk it occasionally and be careful not to scald the milk.
  • Once the milk is hot, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the black chai tea bag. Let the tea bag steep in the milk for at least five minutes, or until the desired strength of chai flavor is reached.
  • Remove the tea bag from the saucepan. Then, add the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and maple syrup to the saucepan. After that, thoroughly whisk the ingredients and reheat the mixture over low heat on the stove.
  • Pour the espresso into a mug. Then, pour the chai-infused almond milk mixture over the espresso into the mug.
  • Give the mixture a gentle stir to combine all the ingredients and enjoy!

Notes

  • Let The Tea Steep: Allow the chai tea bag to steep in the milk long enough to infuse it with the most possible flavor.
  • Vegan Option: Make this dirty chai tea latte dairy-free and vegan by using your favorite plant-based milk, such as almond milk, oat milk, or cashew milk.
  • Add Another Tea Bag: If you want a stronger chai flavor, add another tea bag.
  • Use Coffee Instead: You can use 1/4 cup of brewed coffee instead of espresso in this recipe.
  • Iced Latte: To serve it iced, pour it over a glass filled with ice.
