SPINACH AND FETA TURKEY BURGERS

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh spinach
  • 3.5 ounces crumbled light feta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Add the ground turkey, finely chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to a large bowl.
  • Mix thoroughly to combine the burger mixture in the bowl.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and press down to form patties.
  • Heat a nonstick skillet or grill pan over medium heat and lightly spray with olive oil.
  • Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through, when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Serve the cooked patties on your favorite buns, top with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Topping Ideas: Some delicious toppings are thinly sliced red onions, sliced tomatoes, extra crumbled feta cheese, special sauce, tzatziki sauce, or ketchup.
  • Frozen Spinach: If you don’t have fresh spinach, you can use frozen spinach instead. Just make sure to thaw the frozen spinach and squeeze the excess moisture out.
  • Ground Turkey: Use 99% fat-free ground turkey breast for a leaner option or 93% lean ground turkey for a bit more juiciness. Or, you can substitute the ground turkey with lean ground chicken or ground chicken breast if preferred.
  • Feta Cheese: You can use regular feta, light feta, or fat-free feta.
