Servings: 4 bagels

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cottage cheese fat-free, low-fat, or full-fat
  • 1 egg for the egg wash
  • everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  • Make self-rising flour. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl and thoroughly mix.
  • Add the cottage cheese to the bowl with the flour mixture. Mix in the cottage cheese and then use your hands to knead the dough. Thoroughly knead until the cottage cheese and flour are incorporated and a dough is formed.
  • Cut the dough into four even pieces. After that, roll each piece into a ball. From there, form it into the shape of a bagel and poke a hole in the center of each.
  • Place the formed bagels on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
  • Crack the egg in a bowl and whisk it. Then, brush the egg wash over all the bagels. After that, sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning on top of the bagels.
  • Bake the bagels at 350°F for 25-28 minutes. Or, you can air fry them. Place a parchment paper liner in your air fryer basket or lightly spray it with oil. Then, air fry the bagels at 300°F for 15-17 minutes. You don’t have to preheat your air fryer but you can.
  • Once done, remove the bagels from the oven or air fryer and let them cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving them.

Notes

  • Cottage Cheese: You can use fat-free, low-fat, or full-fat cottage cheese. There is no need to strain or blend it.
  • Let The Bagels Cool: Once done, let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes. They need time to cool and rest after baking. You can always toast the bagels once cooled and sliced to enjoy them warm.
  • Storage: Store leftover bagels in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
